In March 1991, Americomm Direct Marketing was acquired by the Chicago Tribune. In February, 1996, it was renamed Chicago Tribune Direct, and in August 1998, renamed Tribune Direct. With its acquisition by the Chicago Tribune, Tribune Direct became part of Tribune Company, a leading information and entertainment company. Tribune is America’s largest employee-owned media company, operating businesses in publishing, interactive and broadcasting.
 
Between 1998 and 2006, Tribune Company demonstrated its commitment to the direct mail medium with the purchase and creation of several direct mail facilities across the United States. These companies include Tribune Direct LA (direct mail partner to the Los Angeles Times), Tribune Direct Orlando (direct mail partner to the Orlando Sentinel), Tribune Direct Ft. Lauderdale (direct mail partner to the Sun Sentinel) and Tribune Direct Allentown (direct mail partner to The Morning Call, the Hartford Courant and the Baltimore Sun).
 
May, 2006 Tribune Company announced the integration of all its direct mail facilities into one national brand. The new, national Tribune Direct provides the National Reach of facilities located throughout the United States with the Local Touch of established regional partnerships. Tribune Direct serves an important role in reaffirming Tribune’s capability to effectively link marketers with customers.
